I like yummy things. I can’t help it! I have been baking for as long as I can remember starting out with box mixes and recipes on the back of chocolate chip bags. I started selling treats after the suggestion of several people who were already regular customers. And so, Emmy’s Yummies was born.
I moved to Wisconsin in 2019 but I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. The biggest challenge to baking here has been adjusting to humidity. I miss my dry desert for recipe prep, but I don’t miss a hot oven when it’s 110 degrees outside already.
Growing up, my younger brother would give me grief about my cookies. He would say they never turned out the same way twice. He was mostly right. Sometimes the butter would be too cold. Sometimes it would be too soft. Some cookies would be a bit crispy and others too doughy. Fortunately, I have learned a few tricks of the trade and have improved considerably on consistency. He now says the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip is his favorite.
Baking is what I do when I need to relax or wind down. Over the years, especially during my Social Work graduate program, I’d say that I wish I could quit school and just bake full-time. Thankfully, I made it through my master’s program; however, the opportunity has presented itself to do what I’ve wanted for many years: share my treats with others.
I am always trying to improve, and I encourage people to critique my treats. If there is something I could do better, I want to know so I provide the best quality products. If there is something you’d like to see added to the menu, I’m always open to suggestions. You may have to suffer though being a taste tester for new recipes; I’m sure there are worse things, though.
